- Since 1999, Operation Clean-Up has removed over 200,000 pounds of garbage from the banks of the Red River.
- Prior
to 1999, Manitoba Conservation received hundreds of complaints
regarding trash left along the banks of the Red River. In 2005, the
department didn’t receive one single complaint!
- The Red River is now designated as a “heritage” river…even more reason to do our part to keep it clean.
- Did
you know that the Red River is the highest contributor of phosphorous
to Lake Winnipeg. This is one of the main reasons behind the algae
problems on Lake Winnipeg.
